Delmar Vance Black, 75, of Irwin, died May 23, 2010 at Excela Health Hospice, Jeannette. He was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Broad Top City and was a son of Delmar H. and Carrie Black. Mr. Black had retired from Allegheny Bindary in Bloomfield and Rodgers Printing in Irwin. He was a great sports lover and and never missed a game; he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Penguins and all college games. Mr. Black was a member of the American Legion in Irwin. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Irwin until it closed. Mr. Black loved watching many programs on TV, especially sports, history channels, and Cornerstone. His pet, Kodie Bear, was his best friend. In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife of 50 years, Beverly (Weyandt) Black; a son, Delmar V. Black II and his wife, Michele; two grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon Black; a sister, Eleanor Imler of Broad Top; and many nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Elaine Hinish, Lois Suzy Lee and Vernon Glenn Black of Jeannette. Visitation and services, officiated by the Rev. Janet Reid of New Hope Presbyterian Church, North Huntingdon, were at the Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Interment was in Irwin Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon. Memorial donations may be made to the Irwin Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance, PO Box 139, Irwin, PA 15642.
