MURRELLS INLET | Richard ''Dick'' Daub Troutman, 81, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Troutman was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Guy Benjamin Troutman and Catherine Esther Daub. He retired from Prudential Insurance Company in 1981, where he was honored several times on the ''Million Dollar Round Table,'' and then went to work for Olan Mills. Mr. Troutman was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a photographer. He was a devoted husband, father, and a strong inspiration to all. He was an avid golfer, and was active in the Myrtle Beach area golf community, as well as an avid reader. He also was a member of the Shriner's Organization. Mr. Troutman was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Ruth Rankin, in 1978.
Surviving in addition to his wife, S. Bernice Troutman, are one son, Richard Troutman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one daughter, Lauri Troutman of North Berwick, Maine; three stepchildren, Donald Cassey and his wife, Amy, of Surfside Beach, Sherri Benninga and her husband, Scott, of Surfside Beach, and Kristine Hoskins and her husband, Jason, of West Columbia; grandchildren, Richard Troutman and his wife, Janay, of Clearwater, Fla., Courtney Cassey of Surfside, Alex, Sara Grace, and Caroline Hoskins of West Columbia, and Joshua and Thomas Cassey of Surfside Beach; a great-granddaughter, Adelyn Troutman of Clearwater, Fla.; and his sister, Shirley Koch of Mt. Penn, Pa.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Surfside United Methodist Church. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2009.
