KNAUFF----Shuman Earl Knauff, age 81 of Jacksonville, FL passed away peacefully at his home on November 11, 2008. He was born April 6, 1927 in Williamsport, PA, the son of Warren Earl Knauff and Miriam Hart Knauff, both deceased. After his parents passing, Shuman was raised in Milton-HersheyIndustrialSchool for orphans where he learned his trade and then went on to the apprenticeship program. Shuman served as a U.S Navy Corpsman in WWII. A lifetime member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #520, Harrisburg, PA, formerly Local #810, Williamsport, PA. Shuman had 50 plus years in the trade, and loved every minute of his work. Shuman was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #71 and the 40/8, Voiture 382 of Williamsport, PA. Shuman was an accomplished musician and had the voice of an angel. Shuman was a drum major in the famous Black Eagles Drum and Bugle Corps, and a member of the Musicians Union Local #761 of Williamsport, PA. Survivors include his wife Carol Knauff; his daughter Doreen Knauff; step son Trevor Fritz (Andrea); 5 grandchildren Brent, Jesse, and Sara Wilbur, and Trey and Tanner Fritz; his great grandson Samuel; also his sisters Carolyn Park of PA and Maxine Wood of NY; brothers Charles Knauff (Mary) and Tom Knauff (Doris) both of PA; several nieces and nephews most all of PA mother in law Betty Loomis; sister in law Sandy Vinti (Jenny); brother in law Bill Loomis (Shari); his niece Kristy Jo Walls (Mike and Chet), and nephew BJ Loomis, all of Jacksonville, FL. Shuman was predeceased by his sisters Pauline and Joan and his son Daryl. In honoring Shuman's wishes, memorialization is by cremation. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family.
