The
Milton Hershey School Alumni Association came into
being in 1930 through the urging of Milton S. Hershey,
the School's Founder.
Over
the years, the Association has expanded its mission
beyond being a vehicle for building and maintaining
friendships over a lifetime:

MHSAA
works to assist current students at the School
-
Create
a communication network to keep alumni informed
about each other as well as their alma mater
-
Honor
the intentions of the founders as expressed in
their Deed of Trust
-
Assists
young graduates with the transition from MHS
-
Promotes,
defends and honors the intentions of Mr. &
Mrs. Hershey as expressed in their Deed of Trust.

Provides
quarterly editions of newsletter to keep alumni
and other members of the school Family informed
of Association activities and projects
-
Supports
a full service web site to improve communications,
link members of the school Family, and provide
other important benefits.

Provides
transitional support to young alumni through the
Alumni Mentoring Program, a cooperative effort
with MHS, and the Electronic Mentoring Program.

Provides
career exploration activities for current students
through alumni participation in career days, job
shadowing experiences and internships, a cooperative
effort with MHS.
-
Assists
MHS in developing alumni networks in various geographical
areas to recruit additional children who may benefit
from the opportunities at MHS.

Recognizes
and awards students for achievements and efforts
in scholarship, leadership, character and service.

Sponsors
the Alumni Senior Dinner each year to share fellowship
with seniors prior to their induction into the
Alumni Association branch of the school Family.

Coordinates
and communicates to all alumni various activities
for Homecoming weekend.

Sponsors
a golf tournament for alumni at Homecoming and
a fund raising golf classic in June.

Continues
to enhance the Alumni Memorial Grove
-
Recognizes
recently deceased alumni at the Memorial Grove
Service at Homecoming.

Works
closely with the Milton and Catherine Hershey
Heritage Foundation to invest the assets of the
Association and raise funds to support Association
programs and activities.

Maintains
and supports a class agent concept to assist classes
with reunion activities and other communications.

Maintains
up-to-date information on all alumni.
-
Provides
class lists and mailing labels for class agents.
-
Supports
chapter development in various geographical areas.
-
Provides
free membership in Travel USA and other programs
to save on realty fees, moving expenses and long
distance phone service.
